A Philosophers Gem: Brick

Photobucket

Perhaps one of the best film-noir I have ever seen, Brick, the first movie my new director Rian Johnson, is a hidden treasure that all should love. It stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt who’s searching for his ex’s killer; in a high school where secrets can surface as long as you ask the right people, or tug on the right shirt. With his fast talking, intelligent snooping, and aggressive pursuit the truth will either be revealed or be hidden forever.
Photobucket

The shots throughout the film were well thought out and sharp, the acting was spot on by all characters especially Joseph, and the soundtrack was superb; bringing a feeling of an old detective story to this new age twist. The story is very compelling, keeping you in depth with it as Evan burrows deeper into the drug underworld he once knew. The quick talking of all the characters mixed with the excellent sound at each take brings you into a noir which keeps one guessing till the end. This film is a masterpiece which all should see.

jays thoughts:harry potter series

Photobucket
In the past the Harry Potter movies have gone along with the book very well. I was surprised at how well the followed the book with imaculate detail. Then they let me down. The newest one (The Order of The Pheonix) did not follow the book the way I had expected it to. They left out way to much detail of how Harry and Cho's relationship acctuatly happend. They left out some detail that could matter down the road in the series. I hope since they are separating the last movie into two parts they will pay more attention to important details. It should be a good one...but till then go see the 6 movie in the series the half blood prince out July 17th, 2009 .

Rosemary’s Baby (1968)
This movie is one of my personal favorite horror movie and yes the acting skill might be lacking a sort of flow but the story is awesome!!This movies is great because of a certain creative scene (if you have seen it you know that I am talking about and well if you haven’t well then don’t read this xD )... and if you have not seen it I would place it on my movie list ...like right now!! So like most movies these days this movie was original a book by Ira Levins. To give a little blur about it, actors Mia Farrow and John Cassavetes play a young married couple with a baby on the way and they just moved to NY and well lets just say her neighbors are a little to friendly :) This movie has to be one of the best satanic movies next to my other favorites. And from prior experience it is a great movie to watch on a date lol :) well that is it for me!! :)
Photobucket
P.S. People just remember I am not a professional critic just someone that enjoys old horror films and speaks about it. And hopefully I will be writing about more films and music very soon. :) peace out!!! And feel free to leave comments!!

Diane Lane is the main star of this movie. And if You know who any of the other actors are, I applaud you cause no one else even looked familiar. ha ha. The plot of the movie was unclear, It was hard to know where exactly the movie was going. It wasn't thrilling on any level. You know what's going to happen, basically throughout the whole movie. It was like a poorly done low budget saw, it was like they tried to make it a mystery and a horror movie. but they ended up just making it horrible. I'm sorry to anyone who liked this movie, But for me it wasn't enjoyable at all, to say the least. I mean they tortured people, who where all somehow connected to each other. And They have no way of escaping there cruel painful death, But the faster people tune into this web site the faster, you die. I mean, first of all. Who would really want to watch, someone actually be tortured and die?! That's sick in itself. and I think a little unrealistic, That millions to billions of people in the world would tune into this. And then, The ending It happens all so quickly it's hard to follow. Like, boom she escapes death, boom he attacks her, boom she kills him, they show people on the Internet chatting about it, the end. I mean I understand, it was a action flick, but it was kind of boring and I get it's supposed to be quickly but to show all that, and just show a blank screen with the credits. They couldn't think of a better ending? Or did they just run out of time. It really makes me wonder... They also have me wondering, if they will waste money on a super dumb sequel. Because, people in the chat were talking about how cool it was, how it was good he was dead, how he was genius and so on. The ending makes me mad, because it was poorly done and this movie went no where. also! people were saying how wrong it was and how he needed to die, if that was the case why would you watch this? wouldn't you turn your backs to something that was wrong, upsetting and ungodly. Instead of being part of the problem, almost being an accessory to these peoples death and murder crime. I guess I shouldn't get myself so worked up, It was just a movie anyway's. But It's truly a waste of time, waste of space on the shelves and a waste of money. It's a zero on my scale. I wouldn't recommend anyone to watch it.

kimi karma:An American Crime

Photobucket

For those who don't know what An American Crime is it's a movie starring Ellen Page, and It's a true story, happening the 1960's to be exact. It is and hopefully will always be the most horrific crime to ever be committed in the state of Indiana. It was about a 16 year old girl, who was locked into a basement and brutally tortured by a woman she was under the care of. Her parent's were alive, but they were carneys' and left her and her sister, Jenny who was not beaten. Under the care of this woman, (who was a alcoholic and cough syrup addicts)she wasn't even bothering to take care of her own children, but for $20 dollars a week received from the parents of the Likens sisters. She kept Sylvia likens in her basement, starved her, humiliated, beat her, burned her, branded her and tortured Sylvia until her body could withstand no more. Eventually the girl, was not only beaten by Gertrude, but she was also beaten by her children and the children's friends. It's a heartless and sickening crime, but it's things like these that need to be made known, so it doesn't happen anymore.

Photobucket Photobucket

All of the actors in the movie, Where really good and That had difficult parts to pull off. It was a good movie, But at the same time. It's heartbreaking and morbid. So Unless You want to cry and be mad at the world. I suggest, not watching it. Because you truly ask yourself, why would such a person do that? How could that really happen? and it does. all the time. Maybe not to the extremes of this movie, but it happens. This movie really gets your brain going, cause you're asking yourself a lot of question. Some of the abuse she suffered, included being naked and forced into shoving a glass Coca Cola bottle into her vagina in front of a group of neighborhood boys. Having scalding water poured all over her and having salt rubbed into he r burns. Often, she was made to eat her own feces. And etc.... This movie, doesn't show all the facts about what really happened or all details. But if you would like to know more you could research it. This movie gets you to ask a lot of questions. Their were two movies made of this specific story, I've only seen this version. There are also books. This movie is truly disturbing, demented and at parts excruciating to watch.

Photobucket Photobucket

It shows how teenage, frustration and jealously and mental illness untreated can be so tragic. This movie is tragic, She was tortured for months of her life and her life soon came to an end. Her life came to an end, after being thrown down the stairs one last time, being bathed fully clothed and thrown onto a mattress laying on the floor, only to stop breathing. She died in silent agony. She died from brain swelling, internal hemorrhaging of the brain and shock. Well now that I've told you the concept of the movie and a lot of the artifacts, I would just like to say that I recommend watching this movie, just because of the history of it. And the fact that I gained a lot of knowledge. But like I said, It's a grim movie. But I don't think I can rate this movie, just for the obvious. It's not like it can be anyone's favorite or anything...

thoughts of a philosopher : the dark knight has flaws

Photobucket

The Dark Knight must be by far the best film of the summer, yet it is not without its faults. Heath was superb and most likely the one developed, fully evolved character in the film. Bale did an alright job, yet his voice was still bothersome and it seemed less about Bruce Wayne/Batman and more about Gordan and other supporting roles. The joker did not bleed throughout the film even in instances where he should have which was bothersome. Nolan's fight scene again were shot way to quickly, perhaps it is his way but it leaves a missing piece. In the end I wanted a fight scene between Joker and Batman yet was left wanted more Joker and less two-face. I love this film, yet couldn't help but be bothered by its problems.

review:ironman....the second viewing

Photobucket

"that's redicious i don't paint"

well the first this thing i could say is that iron man is the best comic book movie ever!!.......till the dark knight came out.Iron man at its debut, was the next big box office hit for comic book movies.....till dark knight came out and smashed records left and right ,now with the title of 2Nd best grossing film of all time. OK OK i keep talking about the dark knight ,even tho this is a iron man review. my bad ...but fuck wasn't the dark knight the fucking best.

Anyways back to the review....iron man is about billionaire Bruce Wayne(kidding)tony stark who is the biggest weapons dealer on the planet is wounded and kidnapped . with strapnel win his body(caused by his own weapons that his company has been creating)devises away to create a device that has unlimited power and can keep the strapnel away from his heart......in a
cave. later has a idea to create a suit powered by his device and uses it against his captures and escape. with knowing that his company is supplying weapons to both the good guys and the bad guys, dedicated his life to stop production of weapons and fight out on those who use them for evil under the identity of iron man!!!!

this is really a standard superhero story. man creates power ,uses power against evil, hero receives sequel.

the great quality doesnt really come from the story but from robert downey jrs profromance. downey really does breath life into the second rate superhero and makes him feel fresh and fun. from his many own one liners and quirky personality, he is really the own that sells this movie.

Photobucket

the next big thing that also really sells this movie is the practical/cgi effects.
they when combined in this film is really something to wittness. i cant remember one moment were i could call out between real or fake.(other then of course the flying and the big finale)

i know i praise the dark knight for me almost being flawless, and like i said iron man and batman are apples and oranges. but iron man is still a fun movie to watch. but if your going to pick one for the upcoming holiday season.....cough cough dark knight cough cough.

score:8 out of 10
