A Philosophers Gem: Brick

Perhaps one of the best film-noir I have ever seen, Brick, the first movie my new director Rian Johnson, is a hidden treasure that all should love. It stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt who’s searching for his ex’s killer; in a high school where secrets can surface as long as you ask the right people, or tug on the right shirt. With his fast talking, intelligent snooping, and aggressive pursuit the truth will either be revealed or be hidden forever.

The shots throughout the film were well thought out and sharp, the acting was spot on by all characters especially Joseph, and the soundtrack was superb; bringing a feeling of an old detective story to this new age twist. The story is very compelling, keeping you in depth with it as Evan burrows deeper into the drug underworld he once knew. The quick talking of all the characters mixed with the excellent sound at each take brings you into a noir which keeps one guessing till the end. This film is a masterpiece which all should see.
